Mahindrakar Named Principal of Don Juan Avila Middle School

Board of Trustees Appoint Mahindrakar Principal at August 9 Meeting

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – The Capistrano Unified Board of Trustees have appointed Manoj Mahindrakar Principal of Don Juan Avila Middle School, effective today.

Mahindrakar most recently served as an Assistant Principal at San Clemente High School and replaces John Misustin who was recently appointed to Capistrano Valley High School to serve as Principal.

“I look forward to starting a school year that is beaming with spirit, activity, and learning and I am excited to be part of a vibrant campus filled with students who are joyful, inquisitive and grounded in strong character,” stated Mahindrakar. “Don Juan Avila is a great school because of its teachers, staff, families, and students.”

Mahindrakar served as a teacher, activities director and assistant principal at Aliso Niguel High School prior to moving to San Clemente High School in 2015 where he first served as the Assistant Principal, Upper Campus and most recently served as Assistant Principal of Guidance and Curriculum. Mahindrakar is also an adjunct professor at Concordia University in the Masters of Education Program, and he is currently furthering his education as a doctoral candidate at the University of Southern California.

“Joining Don Juan Avila is very much a homecoming for me,” Mahindrakar said. “Aliso Viejo is special to me not only because I have worked there, but because I am an alumnus of Aliso Niguel High School. The traditions and values of our community are deeply engrained in my character.”
