  • Coursework is online, work is completed at home; all exams are taken in person.
  • Students can enroll in a maximum of two courses
  • Mandatory Orientations are assigned based on the course enrolled in:
    • A-G college prep remediated courses: June 18: mandatory orientation
    • Health: June 19 or 20: mandatory orientation


Available Courses

  1. Health: All students may take for original credit or remediation.


CSU/UC Approved A-G credit: Students may take a maximum of two classes to remediate a D or F

  1. A-G Social Science: World History, US History
  2. A-G Biology with additional in-class weekly lab meetings required
  3. A-G English English I-III
  4. A-G Math: Geometry, Algebra I or II


  • Students will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on one of the following days: June 18, 19 or 20, 2018

These dates are based on the course the student registers for (see above) and cannot be changed.

  • Failure to attend the orientation will result in being dropped from the course.
  • Course work can be completed at home, with the exception of exams.
  • CUSD district requirement: All tests must be taken in person.  A 1 hour testing time per week is reserved for each student. Daily open seating testing times are available for students with schedule conflicts.
  • A-G students must attend weekly instruction/ lab in addition to testing sessions.
  • Drop Deadline is July 10, 2018
    • Students that do not drop by the deadline will receive a grade on the CUSD transcript.
  • All coursework must be completed by Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
  • Some students may be able to complete the class prior to July 25, 2018.
  • All class meetings will be held at Aliso Niguel High School.

  • Enrollment is limited.
  • Detailed email will be sent on June 4, 2018 with assigned orientation, testing times and dates.
  • Register through your current Academic Advisor.
  • CUSD online courses do not meet NCAA non-traditional core coursework legislation.


Enroll early. Space is limited. Enrollment may close prior to May 25, 2018 if program is filled.




  • ACCESS is not currently a summer school option (as of 3/22/18). CUSD is awaiting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), registration information, and application information from the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE).
  • CUSD will provide an update with ACCESS registration information and the application once it receives it from OCDE.



  • July 2 through August 8, 2018

·All coursework is online

  • Students may enroll in up to 10 units of credit through PCHS to remediate a D or F grade or to make up credit deficiencies.
  • Math courses require a mandatory in-person or online final exam during the final week of the semester - syllabus will have details
  • Incoming 11th and 12th graders with impacted 2018-2019 schedules may take up to 10 units of Physical Education. Must have Academic Advisor approval.
  • Course availability is on a first-come first-serve basis and may close prior to the registration deadline.
  • Students may not enroll in courses at ACCESS and PCHS.



  • March 26, 2018 through May 21, 2018 failure to return the application to the CUSD Summer School Office by May 21, 2018 may result in the application not getting to PCHS in time
  • Complete enrollment packet which can be downloaded from http://pchs.k12.ca.us/july-august-capistrano/. Print out entire packet and bring completed application to current Academic Advisor.
    • Enroll early. Some courses may close prior to deadline if full.
    • Incomplete applications will not be processed and may not be returned by PCHS.


ACCESS and PCHS enrollment for Private School Students Who Will Not Attend a CUSD School in Fall 2018


Private schools students who reside within the boundaries of CUSD and wish to attend ACCESS or PCHS for summer school need to download all paperwork and have it signed by their private school academic advisor. Once the paperwork is complete, students must have their referral signed by the CUSD Summer School Coordinator.


To obtain CUSD signature: Completed packets need to be delivered to the front desk at the CUSD Education Center, 33122 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano. Once signed, these packets will be sent to either PCHS or ACCESS for processing. You must allow for a 24 hour turnaround. CUSD staff will not be available to sign forms on a drop-in basis.


All PCHS applications must be turn into CUSD by Monday, May 21, 2018 in order to ensure they are signed and received by PCHS in time.


Note that PCHS may close registration early if all courses are full. CUSD cannot guarantee enrollment in courses even if paperwork is returned by May 21. They have closed registration early the past two years.

8th Grade Parents!


High School Parent Information Nights and High School advisor visits are just around the corner! This is a VERY important information regarding the upcoming transition of your

8th grader to high school, so please read this message in its entirety.


On the evening of Monday, February 5 - Parents of 8th grade students are invited to attend the SCHS 8th “8th Grade Expo” from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at SCHS . Parents will be able to tour the classrooms and receive more information about high school academics and sports.


On Saturday, February 10 - Parents and Students are invited to the “Stallion Showcase” at SJHHS from 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. Parents and Students will be able to visit different stations to receive more information about high school academics and sports.


During the school day on Thursday, February 8th - The San Clemente Guidance team will be at Shorecliffs to present 8th graders with important information about registration for high school. This presentation is for 8th grade students only (no parents) during school hours. Students will receive high school registration information on this day.


On the evening of Friday, February 22 - Parents of 8th grade students are invited to attend SCHS’s  “8th grade student information Night” from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. The San Clemente Academic Advisors will be giving a presentation about registration. The Advisors will stay after the presentation to answer any parent questions.


On Thursday, February 15th - The SJHHS Guidance Team will be at Shorecliffs period 6 to present 8th graders with important information about registration for high school. This presentation is for 8th graders only (no parents) during school hours After the presentation the Advisors will be available to meet with the students in their Alpha individually. Students will receive their high school registration information on this day.


8th grade students will be required to use a Student Portal Account to complete the registration process for high school (both SCHS and SJHHS) and choose their elective classes for 2018 - 2019 school year. It will be essential for students to have a valid Student Portal Account to properly register classes. Student Portal is NOT the same as a School Loop Portal. It is not the same as a Parent Portal.

8th grade students will create their Student Portal Account this Friday January 26th in their English classes. Each student will receive a letter with with instructions for creating their student portal all the codes that are needed to create their portal portal their English class this Friday January 26th.
